"Ripping" and "Burning" are terms you have probably heard before, but what do they mean?

Ripping refers to copying audio files from a CD and converting them to mp3 format. To learn how to rip your CDs to mp3, or any other audio file conversions, see the article, How to Convert Anything

Buring is simply copying files from your computer onto a CD. You do need to have a CD drive that is capable of writing to a CD as well as the right software. There are two types of burner technology, CD-R and CD-RW. CD-R allows you to write to a CD once, whereas CD-RW allows you to write and rewrite to a CD more than once. For more specifics, look at CD-R and CD-RW Technology. And for more detailed information on how to burn CDs, check out the article So you want to burn CDs?
